SPAN 324 - Pronunciation and Phonetics - ASYNC WEB

Introduction to the Spanish sound system and its different dialects and their social meaning and value.

This course offers students an introduction to the Spanish phonetic system and its many dialects, which includes developing analytical skills crucial to understanding key differences between written language and spoken language. Students complete readings, activities and discussion boards to explore topics relating to phonetics and language in society. Additionally, students learn the Spanish phonetic alphabet to transcribe spoken Spanish and use software to analyze sound production.
