GER251 - Sexuality

This course traces the dynamics of sexual relations and policies through the changing cultural and political landscape of modernity.

This class will examine how sexuality was constructed and has
changed throughout German history, from the end of the 19th
century to the present, paying special attention to its construction before, during and after Nazism. We will also engage with portrayals of sexuality in both film and literature, and sexuality’s entanglement with race and gender. We’ll use what we learn to think about sexuality, race and gender in the contemporary United States.
