SPAN 324 - Spanish 324 Pronunciation & Phonetics (ASYNC-WEB)

Learn about the science behind the Spanish phonetic system. Students explore dialectal variation across Spanish-speaking communities and its social and cultural value.

This course offers students an introduction to the Spanish phonetic system and its many dialects, which includes developing analytical skills crucial to understanding key differences between written language and spoken language. Students complete readings, activities and discussion boards to explore topics relating to phonetics and language in society. Additionally, students learn the Spanish phonetic alphabet to transcribe spoken Spanish and use software to analyze sound production.
