Learn about the stereotype of the Eastern Jews (Mizrahim) in Jewish Cinema from the moment of the first satire movie in 1964, "Salah Shabti," until the drama film “Sh’chur” in 1994. You will explore the stereotypical portrayal of the Eastern Jew “ Mizrahim” in Jewish Cinema by watching 8 movies.


- Explore the stereotypical portrayal of the Eastern Jews “ Mizrahim” in Israeli Cinema by watching eight movies.
- Be able to go beyond describing the essential elements of a film by explaining how these elements support a specific position.
- Develop critical writing skills regarding the technical, aesthetic, and cultural aspects of the films.
- Be aware of social and political issues, including questions of race, ethnicity, and gender.
